2024 was busy in the offshore wind sector. Here’s a snapshot of the global jack-up vessel action:
Global Activity:
▪ Installation activities took place in seven countries across Europe, Asia, and North America
WTG Installation Campaigns Launched:
▪ Seaway7‘s new-built jack-up Seaway Ventus embarked on her first-ever installation campaign at Ørsted’s Gode Wind & Borkum Riffgrund 3, followed by and O&M job for Vestas
▪ Cadeler’s Wind Osprey joined Seaway Ventus in Germany following a significant crane upgrade
▪ Sister vessel Wind Orca installed all 60 turbines at Moray West, featuring the first offshore installation of Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines
▪ Wind Scylla ventured across the Atlantic for her first U.S. activity at Revolution Wind completing the first 17 positions
Foundation Installation Highlights:
▪ Van Oord embarked on the foundation campaign at Sofia Wind Farm in the UK completing 47 out 100 positions
▪ DEME Group‘s had three jack-up vessels working on foundations scopes, with Apollo completing first a TP scope at Moray West, following by a pin-pile installation campaign at Dieppe Le Tréport
▪ Innovation complete the WTG campaign at Fecamp and proceeded to Noirmoutier for a drilled monopile campaign
▪ Sea Challenger completed TP installation at Vineyard Wind 1
▪ Jan De Nul Group started the foundation scope at Calvados in France, with a complex drilling process causing issues
APAC Action:
▪ Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Bold Tern had a busy time in Taiwan, completing the WTG campaign at Changfang & Xidao, installing the last turbines at Greater Changhua 1 & 2a, and installing all 31 turbines at ZhongNeng and is now back in Europe
▪ Shimizu Corporation -Japan’s Blue Wind played a key role in completing the monopile campaign at Yunlin
▪ Penta-Ocean Construction Company Limited’s CP 16001 continued the foundation campaign at Kitakyushu Hibikinada
▪ Hyundai Frontier first installed monopiles at Jeonnam 1, followed by turbine installation
