A strong partnership with deep roots in offshore
wind development and analysis
Sea Impact is an offshore wind market intelligence tool developed in collaboration with two leading offshore wind consultancies, LAUTEC and PEAK Wind. The idea took shape two years ago over beers at an afterwork event. Since then, we have been working diligently to develop, test and validate the tool in preparation for its release.
Sea Impact – Frequently Asked Questions
Which data sources does Sea Impact use to generate its performance benchmarks?
Sea Impact combines AIS vessel tracking, satellite imagery, proprietary offshore wind project databases, public documents, to deliver unmatched historical installation and O&M records. This enables objective, real-world performance benchmarks based on observed industry activity rather than self-reported estimates.
How can I use Sea Impact to develop more accurate project schedules?
Sea Impact allows you to benchmark your project timeline against historical installation data from comparable wind farms, vessels, and regions. You can validate planned installation rates, campaign durations, weather downtime assumptions, and contractor performance to build more realistic and bankable schedules.
How does Sea Impact help quantify project delay risk?
Sea Impact quantifies delay risk by analyzing historical weather impacts, vessel productivity, port operations, and contractor performance variability. This allows you to identify schedule sensitivities, estimate probability-based delays, and stress-test your project plan under real industry conditions.
What vessel-performance metrics are available in Sea Impact?
-
Installation cycle times
-
Turbine / foundation installation rates
-
Estimates of weather downtime and operability
-
Campaign efficiency and utilization
-
Historical performance by vessel, owner, and project
How can Sea Impact support my T&I (Transport & Installation) procurement decisions?
Sea Impact supports procurement by enabling objective contractor and vessel benchmarking, helping you:
-
Compare bidders based on real historical performance
-
Validate installation claims in tenders
-
Select vessels with proven efficiency in similar project conditions
-
Strengthen contract negotiations using independent industry evidence
How frequently is the Sea Impact data updated?
Core vessel tracking and operational datasets are updated continuously, with new data variable to clients on a monthly basis enable you to stay up to date as new installation campaigns and operational activity occur.
Does Sea Impact cover global wind farms or only specific regions?
Sea Impact covers offshore wind projects globally, including Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America. Our datasets include both mature markets and emerging offshore wind regions, enabling cross-regional benchmarking. For the Chinese market we offer partial coverage.
Can I access historical installation data for specific offshore wind projects?
Yes. Sea Impact provides access to historical installation timelines, vessel utilization, campaign durations, for any offshore wind farm installed since 2012. Our database includes installation data from over 100 wind farms.
Is there a way to export data or integrate Sea Impact insights into PowerPoint or Excel?
Yes. Sea Impact supports data export to Excel, PowerPoint-ready charts, and custom report outputs, allowing users to integrate insights into internal presentations, financial models, lender documentation, and investment memos.
